Group of negatives taken, but not used, for the September 8, 1965, Arkansas Gazette article "Interest in Ozarks Crafts, Arts Still Alive," B1:2. The Latta House is part of the Vineyard Village in the Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park in Prairie Grove, Washington County, Arkansas. Built by John Latta at Vineyard in 1834, the building housed the Vineyard Post Office until a new one was started at Evansville in 1836. By 1860 the Latta farm boasted numerous out-buildings including a spring house, a smokehouse, a detached kitchen and a cellar. The Latta House was donated to the Park by Frank F. Latta of Pescadero, California.

Frank Forrest Latta, son of Presbyterian minister Eli C. Latta and teacher Harmonia Campbell, was born September 18, 1892 in Stanislaus County, California. As a young boy Latta worked on several ranches in the San Joaquin Valley and became interested in the stories of the early pioneers, and in 1906 began interviewing people and gathering research regarding early life and early farming in California.
